High pressure across the Beaufort Sea will spread southwestward across the Chukchi Sea from Thursday through Saturday. From land-based points in Alaska, the main ice edge extends from near Espenberg to 75 nm northwest of Point Hope to 85 nm north- northwest of Point Hope and continues west into Russian waters. The ice edge is open water. FORECAST FOR THE CHUKCHI SEA (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast confidence is high. Easterly to southeasterly winds will continue along the ice edge through mid Thursday. Winds shift generally northerly for the remainder of Thursday, southerly on Friday, and northerly again on Sunday and Monday. Expect the ice from near Espenberg to Point Hope and to the northwest of Cape Lisburne to decay to marginal by Saturday.
