At 1133 PM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from 8 nm northwest of Eden Isle to near The Mid Point Of The Causeway Bridge, moving east at 25 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, and large hail. SOURCE...Causeway station at mid lake reported wind gust to 62 knots or 71 miles per hour. Radar indicated hail of near ping pong size or 1.5 inches in diameter. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. Boats could suffer signifficant structual damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in injury and damage to boats...vessels and oil rigs.
