The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Kauai Channel...

  Oahu Leeward Waters...

  Oahu Windward Waters...



* Until 515 PM HST.



* At 313 PM HST, a thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was

  located near Barbers Point, or near Campbell Industrial Park. The

  strong thunderstorm was nearly stationary. Other thunderstorms

  capable of producing strong gusty winds, frequent lightning, and

  intense blinding downpours were over the Kauai channel west of

  Kaena point, moving north at 10 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater, frequent

           lightning, and intense downpours.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Barbers Point, FAD Buoy S, FAD Buoy R, Kaena Point, FAD Buoy HH,

  FAD Buoy V, FAD Buoy BO, and FAD Buoy CO.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

downpours. Frequent lightning is occuring with these storms. Stay

low or go below, and make sure all on board are wearing life

jackets.
