The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Biscayne Bay...

  Coastal waters from Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef FL out 20 NM...

  Waters from Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef FL from 20 to 60 NM

  excluding the territorial waters of Bahamas...



* Until 600 PM EDT.



* At 355 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing

  waterspouts were located along a line extending from Port

  Everglades to 14 nm east of Triumph Reef to 15 nm southeast of

  Pacific Reef, moving east at 15 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts 34 knots or greater, and large

           hail.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could

           result in structural damage.



* Locations impacted include...

  Card Sound, Key Biscayne, Hallandale, Biscayne Bay, Black Point,

  Bay Harbor Islands, Port Everglades, Elliott Key, Triumph Reef,

  Golden Beach, Surfside, Indian Creek, Sunny Isles, Convoy Point,

  Turkey Point, Pacific Reef, Hillsboro Beach, Cape Florida, Virginia

  Key, and Soldier Key.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.

Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, large hail, high waves, dangerous

lightning, and heavy rain are possible with these storms.



Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily

overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor

immediately.



Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the

open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded

metal objects.
