The National Weather Service in OXNARD has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Point Piedras Blancas to Point Sal westward out to 10 NM...



* Until 630 PM PDT.



* At 550 PM PDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Point Sal, or

  7 nm south of Pismo Beach, moving northwest at 15 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, brief heavy downpours.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and

           suddenly higher waves.



* The strong thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Consider moving to safe harbor as gusty winds and high waves are

possible.



Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the

open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded

metal objects.
